Roofing company, Destin

Problem: Slow mobile website causing potential customers to leave. After-hours storm damage calls go to voicemail and the homeowner hires whoever answers first.

What we'd build: Fast mobile-first site with 3-tap quoting and an after-hours AI agent that answers storm-damage questions, captures lead details, and books next-day inspections.

Potential impactFaster inquiries, fewer missed storm-damage leads, and 24/7 lead capture — the homeowner reaches you at 9pm instead of your competitor at noon tomorrow.

Concept Example Booking system + automation

Charter captain, HarborWalk

Problem: Death by a thousand booking questions. Captain loses hours every evening explaining what's included, license requirements, weather policy, and bag limits — instead of actually fishing.

What we'd build: Live-calendar booking site with deposit automation, weather-reschedule logic, and an AI agent that answers every common question instantly so the captain finds out he's booked instead of explaining bag limits all evening.

Potential impactMore bookings, fewer hours on the phone, and a captain who fishes instead of playing secretary. The booking system works while he's on the water.

Concept Example AI agent + missed-call system

Pool service, Miramar Beach

Problem: Every missed call is a customer calling the next pool guy on the list. The owner is at a pool when the phone rings, can't answer, and the lead is gone by the time he calls back.

What we'd build: AI agent that quotes instantly based on pool size, books the first visit, and texts the owner a summary — all while he's still at the last pool. Missed-call text-back system catches anyone who called and got voicemail.

Potential impactEvery call answered, every lead captured, and the owner sees a summary on his phone instead of listening to voicemails between stops.

The guy you're calling

I understand business. Technology is just how I solve the problems.

I'm not a developer sitting behind a laptop selling websites. Before tech, I spent 15 years running hospitality operations — every role from the ground floor to general manager. I know what a slow season feels like. I know what a booked-out month is worth. I know what happens when systems suck and staff are wasting hours on something that should be automatic.

Now I use technology to solve those exact problems for other business owners. The distinction matters: coding is a capability. Business problem-solving is the product. You're not hiring someone who knows how to code. You're hiring someone who understands what's costing you customers, time, or money — and knows how to fix it with technology.

One rule: I only take clients I can personally deliver for. When I'm full, I'm full. That's why the free audit exists — if I can't help you, I'll tell you straight. If I can, you'll know exactly what it costs and what it does.

Proof we can actually build

We don't just build for clients. We build products.

Why Your Destin Business Is Invisible on Google Maps (and 3 Fixes That Cost Nothing)

If your Destin business doesn't show up in the Google Maps "3-pack," you're losing calls to competitors. Here are three free fixes you can make today.

When someone in Destin pulls out their phone and types "roofer near me" or "pool service Miramar Beach," Google shows three businesses in a little map box before anything else. That box — the local 3-pack — gets the overwhelming majority of the clicks. If you're not in it, you're effectively invisible, no matter how good your work is.

The frustrating part: most local businesses aren't missing from the 3-pack because of anything complicated. They're missing because of three settings nobody ever told them to check. All three are free to fix, and you can do them yourself this afternoon.

1. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile

This is the single biggest lever, and roughly half the businesses we look at have gaps here. Search your business name on Google. If you see a panel on the right with your hours and photos, you have a profile — but "having one" and "finishing one" are different things.

Google rewards completeness. That means every field filled: correct categories (not just "contractor" but your specific trade), service areas listing the actual towns you cover — Destin, Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Fort Walton Beach — hours that are accurate, a real description, and a link to your website. Businesses with complete profiles consistently outrank businesses with half-empty ones, even when the half-empty one has been around longer.

2. Get the categories right — all of them

Most owners pick one category and move on. Google lets you set a primary category plus several secondary ones, and it uses all of them to decide which searches you show up for. A pool company that only lists "swimming pool contractor" is invisible to everyone searching "pool cleaning service" or "pool repair." Add every category that honestly describes what you do. This one change alone can surface you for searches you never knew you were missing.

3. Ask for reviews — on a schedule, not by accident

Review count and recency are ranking factors, plain and simple. A business with 40 recent reviews outranks one with 12 old ones almost every time. The mistake owners make is asking randomly, when they remember. The fix is making it automatic: every finished job, every happy customer, gets a review request by text within 24 hours while the good feeling is fresh. You don't need software to start — you need a saved text template and the discipline to send it. (Automating it is better, and it's part of what we build, but start manual today.)

The honest catch

These three fixes get you in the game. They won't, by themselves, put you at the top of a competitive category overnight — ranking also depends on your website's health, how close you are to the searcher, and how long your profile's been active. But they're free, they're fast, and skipping them is why most local businesses stay invisible while a competitor with worse work gets the call.

If you want to know exactly where your business stands, we'll run a free audit — drop your info on the Free Tech Audit section and we'll send you a plain-English rundown within 24 hours.

Google Business Profile setup and review automation are included in every plan, starting at $600/mo.

The Off-Season Playbook: What Smart Emerald Coast Businesses Build September Through February

Season ends, revenue dips — and the Emerald Coast businesses that dominate spring break are the ones that used the slow months to build. Here's the playbook.

Everybody on the Emerald Coast feels the same rhythm. Summer is chaos, the shoulder months taper off, and by October the parking lots thin out and the phone slows down. Most business owners treat those slow months as something to survive.

The ones who pull ahead treat them as something to use.

Here's the thing about your busy season: you don't have time to fix anything during it. You can't rebuild your website in July — you're too busy doing the work. Which means the only time to build the machine that wins next season is now, while it's quiet. The businesses that own spring break didn't get lucky in March. They built in November.

September–October: Fix the foundation

This is website season. Your site is the first thing a tourist checks before booking a charter, a table, or a service call, and if it's slow or dated, they bounce to whoever's next. The slow months are when you finally have the breathing room to rebuild it properly — fast on mobile, clear on what you do, easy to book or call. Do it now and it's live and seasoned by the time traffic returns.

November–December: Build the content bank

Here's a trick the pros use: film and produce your content in the off-season, release it during the busy one. When you're slammed in spring, you won't have time to make a single video. But if you spent a quiet December building a bank of 30 short clips, you can post three a week straight through your busy season without lifting a finger. Content batched in the slow months is content that runs itself when you need it most.

January–February: Turn on the systems

By late winter, spring break planning is already happening — families are booking, tourists are researching, and the businesses that show up early win the reservation. This is when your automations should come online: the chatbot that answers booking questions at 11pm, the review engine that's been quietly stacking five-stars, the follow-up sequences that catch the people who almost booked. Flip these on in February and you walk into March with a machine already running.

The pattern that separates winners

Reactive businesses scramble in March. Proactive ones built all winter and coast into spring. The difference isn't budget or luck — it's a decision made in September about whether the slow months are for surviving or for building.

If you want a build window mapped to your specific business, that's what the Industries page lays out — every vertical on the coast has an ideal month to start. Or just get a free audit and we'll figure out yours.

Ready to build before spring break?

Site, content, and automations — all live before the season starts. Plans from $600/mo.

AI Agents for Local Business, Explained Like You're Busy

No hype. Here's what an AI agent actually does for a roofer, a charter captain, and a med spa — real examples, real limits, plain English.

"AI agent" is one of those phrases that sounds either like science fiction or like a scam, depending on who's saying it. Let's strip the hype off and tell you what it actually is, because underneath the buzzwords it's genuinely useful for a local business — and it's not magic.

An AI agent is software that answers your customers and does small jobs for you, in plain conversation, around the clock. That's it. It's not a robot taking over your business. It's more like a very fast, never-sleeping assistant who knows your prices and your schedule and never takes a day off. Here's what that looks like in three real Emerald Coast businesses.

The roofer

A homeowner's ceiling starts leaking at 9pm during a storm. They Google roofers, land on three websites. Two have a phone number that goes to voicemail. The third has a chat box that immediately says: "Storm damage? Let's get you on the schedule. What's your address and when did the leak start?" — collects the details, books a next-day inspection, and texts the roofer the whole thing.

Guess who gets the job. The agent didn't replace the roofer. It just made sure he was the one who answered at 9pm instead of the one who called back at noon the next day, after the customer already hired someone else.

The charter captain

Charter booking is death by a thousand questions. What's included? Do you provide licenses? What if the weather's bad? Can we keep what we catch? A captain answering all of that by text, between trips, loses hours a week. An agent trained on his answers handles every one of those questions instantly, quotes the trip, checks the live calendar, and takes the deposit — so the captain finds out he's booked instead of spending his evening explaining bag limits.

The med spa

A potential client is scrolling at midnight and wonders whether the spa does a specific treatment, how much it costs, and whether there's an opening Saturday. If nobody answers, that impulse is gone by morning. An agent answers all three right then, and — this is the part that matters for a med spa — books the appointment while the interest is hot. It also cuts no-shows by sending confirmation and reminder texts automatically.

The honest limits

An AI agent is not a person, and you shouldn't pretend it is. It's excellent at the top of the conversation — answering the common questions, capturing the details, booking the easy stuff — and it should always hand off cleanly to you for anything real or unusual. Set up badly, it frustrates people. Set up well, it catches the customers you were losing in the gaps: after hours, mid-job, on weekends.

The right way to think about it: the agent doesn't replace you, it stops you from losing the people who show up when you can't. In a tourist economy where the customer is deciding right now on their phone, that's often the whole game.

Curious what one would handle for your specific business? Get a free audit — we'll tell you straight whether it's worth it for you, and what it'd cost. (It's part of every plan, including the $600 Tech Essentials.)
